I  met Jack at Brodak  in 2014 and that year, I was able to visit  him  after the Nats. In his shop (basement) he had a stack of plans, of which he gave me the ME-109 ( BMJR Kit B-256), which he said was the best stunter he ever designed.  And the Spitfire which was unique in its “I” beam and sliced rib construction.  The sliced ribs were  popular in the 60’s, especially with tapered wings where every  “hand cut” rib is different.  Jack mentioned that  today he would go with full ribs.  My 1st mock up was with sliced ribs. I found it difficult to get every thing aligned and strong.  The BMJR  Spitfire has a typical  full rib with “tabs” for alignment, and sheeted leading edge.   Fuselage is also 3/16 “  wider to accommodate the tank I had. And the control surfaces are built up instead of 1/4” sheet. Other than that; this is Jack's Spitfire.

Flying weight of our prototype is 39 oz. with  Brodak 40 (with muffler) 3 1/2 oz tank, Polyspan covering, Klass-Kote finish
