The BMJR Scout was developed from a hand drawn plan from Joe dated 1996. When it was announced 1/2A Stunt was to be flown at the 2019 Brodak fly-in , we pulled it down and built one. Turned out to be a fun “nostalgic” build. Only changes for the 1950 design was to simplify the build with laser cutting technology. Model has a 25 3/4″ span with 128 sq. in of area, designed for the Cox reed valve engines popular in the 1950’s. Our Scout turned out to be a good flyer at 8 oz. on 40’ lines. With a Cox “black widow” , we found it very capable flying the Old Time Stunt pattern.

“The VECO “SCOUT” was my first kitted U-control design – and, as far as I know, was also the first kitted 1/2A True Stunt Model. Sometime after I left VECO (late fall, 1954) its management (Gil and Jack Henry) had the Scout redesigned. But the new & improved kit still contained the same assembly plans as the original 1950 version”, Joe Wagner
